Yuksom in West Sikkim was the first capital of the Kingdom of Sikkim, where the first Chogyal was crowned in 1642. Today it serves as the base camp for the Goechala trek to Kanchenjunga and retains its spiritual significance with the ancient Dubdi Monastery.
